Special Weather Statement As of 9:52 PM CST on November 20, 2009
... Patchy dense fog expected overnight...
Fog is expected overnight... especially over central... north- central... and far northeast Wisconsin. Widespread visibilities of 1/2 to 1 mile are expected by late tonight. But the fog will become much more dense in low-lying areas and along river valleys. Visibilities below 1/4 mile are expected in those areas. Clouds will limit the fog in east-central portions of the state.
Anyone traveling overnight or heading out early Saturday morning should be prepared to encounter fog... and plan accordingly. If you encounter a fog bank while driving on the Highway... always use your low-beam headlights and slow down to a speed at which you can safely stop if you encounter an animal or object in the roadway.
Temperatures are also expected to fall below freezing overnight. That combined with the fog could cause a layer of frost to deposit on roadways by morning. Anyone heading out early Saturday morning should also be alert for the possibility of encountering slippery roadways due to the frost.
Tonight -
Mostly cloudy...then decreasing clouds. Patchy dense fog reducing visibilities less than 1/4 mile possible after midnight. Lows 28 to 33. Light and variable wind.
