The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Pope County in central Arkansas
southern Newton County in north central Arkansas
southwestern Searcy County in north central Arkansas
west central Van Buren County in north central Arkansas
northeastern Johnson County in western Arkansas

* until 845 PM CDT

* at 641 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms... producing heavy rainfall... centered along a
line extending from 9 miles north of Hector to
the Upper Buffalo Wilderness area... moving southeast at 15
mph. Additional rainfall amounts of up to two inches will be
possible in the warned area.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

... Significant weather alert for Johnson and Pope counties until 715
PM CDT...

At 634 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar was tracking a
strong thunderstorm 7 miles east of Ozone Recreation Area... moving
south at 15 mph.

Small hail... and wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected with this
storm.

Areas that will be affected include Woods Mountain... Strawberry... Red
Lick Mountain... Hagarville... Lutherville... Holman and Lamar.

Frequent... lightning is occurring with this storm. If outdoors...
stay away from isolated high objects such as trees. Move indoors if
possible. When indoors... stay away from windows and doors and avoid
using telephones unless it is an emergency.

Torrential downpours may cause localized minor flooding in low lying
area. Motorists should be advised to expected reduced visibilty due
to the very heavy rain.
